Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

(Romans 4:7-8)
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper. (Proverbs 38:13)

Jesus is the covering of our sin

Spurgeon sermon extract:

If you try to cover your sins you will not prosper. Allow Jesus to cover your sins and you will prosper.

No sooner had man disobeyed his Maker’s will in the garden of Eden than he discovered, to his surprise and dismay, that he was naked, and he set about at once to make himself a covering. They sewed fig-leaves together. After that God came in, revealed to them yet more fully their nakedness, made them confess their sin, brought their transgression home to them, and then it is written, the Lord God made them coats of skin.

No amount of good works will cover your sins. No matter how hard
you strive at making and sewing a covering for yourself – you will
never be able to succeed.

We need God’s covering that he provides through the precious blood of Jesus.
